Valentine’s Day was a feast day in the catholic religion. It was commemorated for the martyred Saint named of course Valentine. Not much is known about the actual history of the Saint and there are various legends surrounding the story. According to some, Saint Valentine was a Roman priest who performed weddings for soldiers forbidden to marry, because of a Roman emperor’s decree that married soldiers did not make good warriors. Saint Valentine wore a ring with a Cupid symbol on it which helped the soldiers to recognize him. It is said that he handed out paper hearts to remind Christians of their love for God. Because of this one story, Saint Valentine became known as the patron Saint of Love.
The song “Precious and Few” resonates with its listeners and really is a tribute to whatever you want it to be.
